AES Digital Signature Only (for e-Apostille)
An AES (Advanced Electronic Signature) includes extra layers of user authentication and is required for the FCDO e-Apostille. The signer may be required to present a valid government-issued ID to verify their identity, pass biometric checks, and use a unique access code upon completing the signing process. Additionally, a digital certificate is generated and attached to the document as part of the transaction.
Thanks to these added security measures, AES achieves two critical goals:
It reliably confirms the identity of the signer.
It creates a unique connection between the signature and the signer.
